Groove
Junkies yet again provide your dancefloor with some more
funky tracks, this WMC Album Sampler called ‘In
The Zone’ heading your way very soon. Onto the tracks,
first up is the GJs Funk Fusion Dub of ‘Work It
Out’ by Wendy Brune’. Wendy Brune has delivered
a brilliant performance on her debut track. This track
has the trademark GJs ‘funky feelgood’ factor
that will light up any floor. DJ Meme pulls out an unbelievable
remix of the 2006 track smash hit Dr Feelgood. The spoken
vocal in this track sounds even better in this version.
Just as DJ Meme gave a new life to ‘Cure and the
Cause’, he has used the same magic on this to turn
it into another smash hit, disco infused house at its
best. Put your hands in the air for Solara and her brand
spanking new track ‘Pulled Me Through’. The
GJs Elavation Mix is on this sampler and it may be last
but it’s definitely worth the wait. The GJs magic
has yet again produced another masterpiece, its typical
GJs production ideal for big room moments and guaranteed
to drive the crowds wild. Antony

Throwing out the script that has made GJs pivotal players
in the gospel house market, and trying something different
is a bold move, but they may well gain their biggest club
track as a result. With quirky barking vocals (think Malcolm
McLaren), deep and hypnotic synth-lines straight outta
Chicago’s moody past, and even darker drums - form
the foundation for the chant to “let it go”.
At times this is reminiscent of the groundbreaking (and
still highly relevant) Thee Maddkatt Courtship releases,
one of the more consistent pseudonym from Felix Da Housecat.
It’s the standout from their ‘MoHo WMC 08
Album Sampler’ that includes a trio of strong cuts
which adhere to their usual brief, but for me it’s
all about being ‘In The Zone’. The Junkies
just found a brand new and improved Groove. Lewis

The first artist album from these junkies with sooooo
much groove and 4 tracks that feature as part of their
MoHo WMC 08 Album Sampler, which is a take no prisoners
assault on the senses that spotlights four wickedly delicious
cuts from Groove Junkies’ long awaited debut artist
album, “In The Zone” – slated for release
later this Spring. The four uniquely diverse titles, all
written and produced by Evan & Parrish, offer a glimpse
of some the finest work the fellas have embarked on. The
Sampler features an amazing collective of today’s
most gifted vocalists, musicians, and one of the hottest
Producer / DJ’s on the scene, Brazil’s finest
import – DJ Meme’. From the first cut “Work
It Out”, “Dr Feelgood” and “Pulled
Me Through” to my fav and the title track "In
The Zone", as the title and mix name would imply,
GJs showcase their versatility with a new vibe that may
shock those familiar with their signature sound. This
is a dark, brooding, space tech beast that is pure unadulterated
filth! Complete with hypnotic chants, broken beats, melodramatic
orchestral strings, punctuating synth stabs, and one very
nasty bass line – “Zone” bolsters Parrish
& Evan’s reputation as one of the elite production
teams on the planet! Serious, serious heat ya’ll!!

I'd follow
the Groove Junkies into any zone. They work my every chakra!
About time a full album is presented so all the fans can
get the whole box of delicious slices of gorgeous music
that makes me sound real good dj'in' on any dance floor,
no doubt! The Album Sampler starts off with “Work
It Out” which is an awesome peak hour boomer with
a sweet slithering funk bass bite. Next up is “Dr
Feelgood 2008” (clever!) which starts with the latest
tech deep sounds and moves into a super Philly sound -
and yes, it does live up to Vince Montana Jr.’s
live lush instrumentation style taking this favorite of
mine to a whole new level! “In the Zone” is
minimum, straight forward, deep, and dark loveliness!
Love the 'pong' sound efx. Last, but not least there’s
“Pulled Me Through”. Preach it baby!! Mighty
Fine... I'm hearin' you loud and clear and my hands are
in the air… I'm ready for that GJ full length album!

Just in time for Miami, Evan Landes & Parrish
Wintersmith offer a glimpse into their upcoming artist
album in the shape of this sampler. First up is the Funk
Fusion Dub of their current release Work It Out complete
with compelling keys, brass and seventies style guitars.
2006’s Dr Feelgood is updated by man of the moment
DJ Meme with his trademark lush production style very
much in evidence. In The Zone is a new composition that
sticks a proverbial finger or two up in the direction
of a their critics. There’s a raw, almost techy
edge to the track with an atmosphere that reminds me of
the Red Zone Dubs a certain David Morales used to deliver
back in the day. The fourth and final track is Pulled
Me Through with Solara on vocal duties for a number full
of the trademark GJ elements. Just to raise the bar a
little the synth horns are absolutely devastating throughout.
There’s a full package of mixes to follow for each
of these cuts but you’ll be hearing a lot more of
all of them much sooner than that. Dean Serafini

Its about time the ever solid Groove Junkies release their
debut artist album titled "In The Zone", and
this sampler will give you a first glimpse at what to
expect. Kicking off is the current Groove Junkies single
"Work it out" (that has taken over dance floors
and charts all over the world), followed by DJ Meme's
classy Philly Disco flavored remix of the 2006 smash "Dr.
Feelgood" that is all about the uplifting vibe and
passionate vocals. Next is "In the Zone" which
showcases a new side of the Groove Junkies as they go
for a darker, tech flavored sound on a broken beat tip,
spiced with hypnotic vocals, dramatic strings and wicked
keys - this one is absolutely relentless and captivating,
sure to take dance floors by storm. Lastly there is "Pulled
me Through" featuring Solara, a signature Groove
Junkies production featuring sexy vocals over an irresistibly
stormin' funktified groove. Michael Fossati
