On their journey in writing the album, Groove Junkies brought along acclaimed MoHo favs Solara, Diane Carter, & Indeya as well as some new faces such as Wendy Brune, Romeo Brune, & Melody Lewis to name a few. "We’re having a blast working with so many great artists during the process of putting this project together" states Parrish. We’re also very pleased to be working on a song with House legend, Joi Cardwell. Exciting times!"
Exciting
indeed since this is the duo's first full length album after releasing
numerous hit singles, remixes, and compilations. When asked about
the difference between working on an album vs. a compilation or single,
Evan noted that "It’s similar to working on a compilation
in the sense that we try to tell a story both lyrically & musically
within the framework of a full length album. There’s obviously
a bit more time to take the listener on a journey on an album than
you can on a single. That said working on an album of original music
is much harder to produce than conceptualizing, and mixing a compilation.
Throughout the creative process you work on different songs or tracks
that are in various stages of production simultaneously which gives
new meaning to the term multi tasking. To sum it up - although a lot
of time and thought go into producing mixed compilations & writing
singles, they’re a mere walk in the park compared to working
on an original album’s worth of material."
Fans
will also find some familiar songs from the Groove Junkies catalogue.
"As for the overall content - about 70% of the album contains
new material, and the other 30% are older GJ classics that we’ve
remixed" affirms Evan. "Last but certainly not least, it
has to be noted that we’ve surrounded ourselves with some of
the most talented singers, musicians, and collaborators that we could
have ever hoped for. All bias aside, we truly believe that this project
has the ingredients to stand the test of time."
The
album is expected to please everyone's palette since it's so diverse.
"On any given song or track you may hear elements/influences
of soul, r & b, rock, gospel, latin, or afro/soca" states
Evan. "The one constant throughout is that it will definitely
make you want to move your feet, and shake your a**! We want it to
not only be accessible to our core audience of ‘house heads’,
but to all fans of quality music - period. Although we’ve stayed
true to our ‘sound’, we’re very excited to reveal
another side of Groove Junkies that folks haven’t seen before."
Fans
and audiences around the world have overwhelmingly reassured that
since they have exclusively experienced bits of the album during Groove
Junkies electric DJ Sets on their Summer Tour. "The tour has
been going very very strong. We’ve been blessed to play in some
of the world’s most amazing cities!" avows Parrish. "As
for the new tracks we’ve been previewing from the upcoming album,
the response has been nothing short of phenomenal! It’s very
reassuring to have that sense of affirmation from the peeps on the
dance floor."
With
a great buzz and anticipation around the world, the fellas expect
the album to be released soon. "If all the stars are aligned
just right we could be looking at the later part of 2008, but if all
else fails we’re shooting for an early 2009 release. Rest assured
we’re working hard and very close to the finish line. Let’s
see how it goes."
In
closing, Evan Landes leaves us with some final words. "We
want to provoke thought, and inspire those who are willing to consider
all of life’s possibilities, but ultimately it’s all about
letting your hair down & enjoying the ride!
